The charter was introduced into the Victorian Parliament by Attorney Rob Hulls and is under consideration.
In June 2006 the Federal Parliament passed changes regarding the Electoral Roll. The roll will now close on the day the election is called which disadvantages people who are yet enroled to vote. Young people should be aware that they need to enrol to vote as soon as they are 18. In addition, prisoners will not be allowed to vote.
The Federal Government has restricted the number of Senate committees available to review legislation. Henry Evans, the clerk of the Senate, believes this will impact on the accountability of parliament. CLICK here for more information.
